Japan 2026
Tokyo (2-6 Nov)
We start the tour in the capital where we focus on neon lights and city life. We visit the districts of Shibuya and Shinyuku. We meet Norwegian Julie who has lived in Tokyo for 3 years. She studies industrial design and we get a unique insight into what it is like to live and study in Tokyo. Among other things, we go to Time Labs which is a digital art museum that plays with light and the senses. And a visit to a karaoke bar is mandatory – no one loves karaoke like the Japanese!
Hiroshima (6-7 Nov)
After a few days in bustling Tokyo, it's nice to visit other, quieter parts of Japan. We take the Shikansen (bullet train) to Hiroshima where we gain insight into why the atomic bomb was dropped on this particular city during WW2. A visit that leaves an impression on us and reminds us why war should always be avoided. We round off with a visit to Naoshima – an entire island packed with Japanese artwork and beautiful nature.
Kyoto (7-11 Nov)
We travel on to magical Kyoto where the old traditions stand strong. We take part in the old tea ceremonies, enter a more mindful experience through visits to temples where we meet monks who take us into the old Zen traditions. Kyoto is also known for its fantastic food scene, so there will also be some culinary highlights. From Kyoto we also take a day trip to Osaka where a visit to Universal Studios is on the agenda. A great amusement park you will not soon forget. Towards the end of the trip we return to Tokyo for a last evening in the big city, before returning home.
