Frequently asked questions

Applying to a folk high school raises many questions – and that's only natural. Here you will find the answers to your questions about the application, the start, and everything that happens before, during, and after the folk high school year.

Yes, unfortunately. The school is closed during holidays, and then it is not possible to stay at the school.

The room allocation will be finalized closer to the start of school.
This means that you will only find out who your roommate is when you arrive at our school on the first day.

Yes, you can change your mind, but the timing of your change of mind may affect what it entails:

You change your mind right after accepting the position.
To secure your place in the school, you must pay a registration fee of NOK 2,800. You have a 14-day right of withdrawal to receive a refund of your registration fee.

You change your mind in the period until August 1st
If you change your mind and want to withdraw your place until August 1st, you will lose NOK 2,800.

You change your mind after August 1 or during the school year
The 6-week rule applies. This is a compensation scheme for lost school places that cannot be replaced by a new student.
You will have to pay for 6 weeks of the school year.

We cater for lactose- and gluten-free diets, as well as vegetarian/vegan food.

Documentation requirements
We do not charge extra for accommodations, but you must be able to provide documentation from a doctor that a lactose-free or gluten-free diet is necessary. Send this to post@ronningen.fhs.no before school starts.

Unfortunately we cannot offer Halal. For those who do not eat pork for religious reasons, we will serve an alternative.

If you have other dietary requirements, you must contact the school directly at post@ronningen.fhs.no.
