HOLIDAY AT POPULATION COLLEGE

During the school year, the school is closed for the holiday weeks. Unfortunately, it is not possible to stay at the school during these periods. You will find an overview of the dates for the various holidays below.

CHRISTMAS VACATION 19.12.25-06.01.26

The school closes on 19 Dec at 4 pm and opens on 5 Jan at 4 pm. It is not possible to stay at the school during the holidays. On 16 Dec there is a Christmas party for the students that lasts all evening. Start after the holidays is 7 Jan at 9 am.

WINTER VACATION 13.02-22.02 2026

The school closes on 13 Feb at 4 pm and opens on 23 Feb at 4 pm. It is not possible to stay at the school during the holidays. The start after the holidays is 23 Feb at 9 am.

EASTER HOLIDAY 27.03-07.04 2026

The school closes on March 27 at 4 pm and opens on March 7 at 4 pm. On the evening of Thursday, March 26, there will be an Easter celebration for the students. It is not possible to stay at the school during the holidays. The start after the holidays is April 8 at 9 am.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

On Thursday, May 14, 2026 (Ascension Day), friends and family of students are invited to a festive end-of-year celebration.
Here is the program for the day:

10:00–13:30: Check-out
11:30–13:30: Lunch buffet
1:00 PM–1:45 PM: Photography
14:00–15:30: Closing ceremony with diploma presentation
5:00 PM: School closes

SEMESTER SCHEDULE 26-27

The school year 26/27 starts on August 15 and ends on May 15. A folk high school year is a compressed year, where Saturday is also a teaching day. This helps to make the year a stronger and deeper experience than other studies. It also means that you have a good opportunity to have a summer job before and after the school year.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL 22.08.26

On Saturday, August 22, friends and family are invited to a ceremonial opening of the school year. Check in from 9:30 a.m. The program for guests ends at 5:00 p.m.

NORTHERN MARKET TOUR 31.08-02.09.26

During the first few weeks we go on a group trip to Nordmarka. We spend the night in the Nordmark Chapel, lavvo or hammock and get to experience a real camp atmosphere with swimming and various activities.

AUTUMN VACATION 25.09-04.10.26

The school closes on 25th Sept at 4pm and opens on 4th Oct at 4pm. It is not possible to stay at the school during the holidays. We recommend traveling by train if possible.

STUDY TOUR PERIOD Week 45-46

In November, all students go on a study trip, in Oslo or abroad. The study trip period provides new impressions and new acquaintances. Read more about the study trip offer HERE .

REUNION 21.11.26

The penultimate weekend in November, the last three classes are invited back to school. There will be a volleyball tournament and concerts, etc. This year's students will be participating in parts of the program.

CHRISTMAS VACATION 17.12.26-03.01.27

The school closes on 17 Dec at 4pm and opens on 3 Jan at 4pm. It is not possible to stay at the school during the holidays. On 16 Dec there is a Christmas party for the students that lasts all evening. The start after the holidays is 4 Jan at 9am.

WINTER VACATION 19.02-28.02 27

The school closes on 19 Feb at 4 pm and opens on 28 Feb at 4 pm. It is not possible to stay at the school during the holidays. The start after the holidays is 1 March at 9 am.

LINE WEEKS AND LINE TRIP Week 9-10

The weeks after the winter break are dedicated to line deepening. During these weeks, the line goes on a separate trip to a destination in Europe. Read more on the line pages.

EASTER HOLIDAY 19.03-30.03.27

The school closes on March 19 at 4 p.m. and opens on March 30 at 4 p.m. On Thursday, March 18, there will be an Easter celebration for the students, which will last the entire evening. The start after the holiday is April 1 at 9 a.m.

FESTIVAL 23.04-25.04.27

Weeks 15 and 16 are project weeks that culminate in the school's own festival. During the festival weekend, friends, family and others are welcome to the school to see what the students have made.

BEACH HOME 03.05-05.05.27

The trip to Strandheim marks the beginning of the end of the school year. We spend quiet days by the Oslofjord in togetherness and gratitude.  

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL 15.05.2027

On Saturday, May 15, friends and family are invited to a formal end of the school year. Check-out is possible from 10 a.m. The program ends at 3:30 p.m. and the school closes at 5 p.m.
