AN INVESTMENT IN YOURSELF

At a folk high school you get a lot for your money. The price includes board and lodging, leisure activities, group trips, a bus trip, insurance, a school sweatshirt and a travel card in Oslo. Compared to a regular student life, you get a complete package here that covers both the practical – and the social. 

One year at Oslo Folkehøgskole costs 145,300,-

This includes:

  • Registration fee (2,800 NOK)

  • Board & lodging - room w/bathroom and 4 meals per day

  • Social events and cultural activities

  • Excursions and joint school trips

  • Line trip to destination in Europe

  • Line costs

  • Travel card - which allows you to travel around Oslo, zone 1. 

  • Travel and accident insurance

  • School sweater and lunch box

  • Optional study trip in spring 2027

  • Single room
    Additional costs for single rooms are added to the invoice in September and January. We have a limited number of single rooms. These are initially reserved for students who need to live alone for health reasons. Single rooms will have an additional cost of NOK 7,000-12,000 per year depending on the room type. Documentation must be provided to be considered for a single room. This must be sent to ann.kathrin@ronningen.fhs.no in advance of the school year.

  • Parking at the school
    There are options for you by car. Please contact mette@ronningen.fhs.no

  • The school's insurance does not apply to private belongings and private trips/vacations undertaken during the school year.

  • Food adaptation
    We do not charge extra, but we require that you provide documentation from a doctor or therapist.

You should basically be fine without extra pocket money. But the answer to this question will depend a bit on your initial spending habits.

  • Enrollment fee
    When you accept the offer of a place, you will pay an administration fee of 2800 NOK. You can either transfer to # 739233 or pay to the school's account: 3000.15.31545

  • Monthly invoices
    142,500 NOK is broken down into monthly payments from August to May. This sum is distributed on monthly invoices that are adjusted to the Loan Fund's payments.

  • Optional study tour
    Early registration helps us plan the best possible trip for all participants. If you know which trip you want to attend, please register in advance of the school year. The final registration and payment deadline is September 2026. Pay to the school's account number, and mark the payment with the student's name and line. 

Line trip is included in the price.
Optional study trip in the spring is an additional cost.

SPACE OFFER

When you accept the offer of a place, you also pay a registration fee of 2800 NOK. You have a 14-day right of withdrawal if you change your mind. 

SEARCH THE LOAN FUND

Once you have been granted a school place, you can apply for support from the Lånekassen. For the school year 25/26, students received NOK 151,690 in support from the Lånekassen. New figures are coming. 

MONTHLY PAYMENTS

The total sum (NOK 142,500) will be distributed over monthly invoices that are adjusted to the Loan Fund's payments. 

LOAN FUND

You receive support from the Lånekassen when you attend folk high school. For the 2025/2026 school year, you received up to NOK 151,690 from the Lånekassen.

60 percent of this sum is a loan, 40 percent is a loan that can be converted into a scholarship when you are approved for your year at folk high school.
