Performing Music: Band and Vocals

Practical and customized music lessons from some of the country's leading musicians and educators
Meet renowned musicians and artists, and gain valuable insight into the music industry and cultural life
Stand on stage, record music and create musical highlights with your fellow students

Do you want to develop as a musician or singer? At performing music you can take part in a fantastic community where we learn from each other and create music together, and individually. Here you can cultivate your interest in music surrounded by experienced teachers, talented fellow students in facilities that provide many opportunities. We are close to Oslo's bustling music scene. You get to meet renowned musicians and artists and have classes with inspiring instrumental teachers.

A YEAR OF PERFORMING MUSIC

Through theory and practice, you will develop your musical skills. We work with rhythm, melody, timbre, harmony and communication. Our focus will be to strengthen the musical resources you already have.

You will learn to listen and find your role through interaction with other musicians, while developing on your instrument. We have access to some of Norway's best musicians and instrumental teachers, and you will receive instrumental lessons with teachers who match your wishes.

Together we will create concerts and you will get help to write and record your own music. Our four studios and three fully equipped collaboration rooms provide great opportunities for live recording and studio productions. You will have the opportunity to compose and collaborate with other lines at the school through e.g. film music, music for dance performances, art exhibitions and much more.

The schedule consists of group lessons and individual lessons. We have workshops and masterclasses together with the other performing arts lines, and we are visited by artists and knowledgeable industry professionals who can inspire you.

The teaching is largely project-based and leaves a lot of room for you to choose how you want to develop. All theory is closely linked to concrete cases and your own practice of music.

Instrumental lessons are part of the schedule, but you will also receive a lot of individual support in the collaborative room and in the various projects you become a part of.

We make use of Oslo, Norway's largest city of culture, by going to concerts and visiting other music institutions such as NLA Staffeldts and the Norwegian Academy of Music.

You will have the opportunity to go to concerts and performances at venues such as Rockefeller, Sentrum scene, Vulkan arena, Parkteateret, Operaen, Chateu Neuf, Kulturkirken Jakob and SALT. In Oslo there are also many smaller concert venues with a musical profile that cover the whole spectrum. We encourage our students to go to as many concerts as possible in addition to the concerts we go to as a class and as a school.

In addition to experiencing fantastic artists at concerts, we also have talented people from Oslo's music and cultural scene visit the school.

The line is suitable for those who want to dive into music and practice with others who are interested in the same thing. It is suitable for those who want a year with a musical focus, and who are wondering whether to pursue music.

No musical knowledge is required, nor is there any prerequisite for previous music education to attend the performing music program, but the program does require a certain level of proficiency. It is therefore desirable to include a demo or audio clip with your application that gives us an impression of your musical background.
