Are you curious about art, creative techniques and forms of expression? At Art and Architecture you will gain insight into contemporary art, architecture, models, drawing, installation, painting, ceramics and much more! We focus on your ideas and how they can be expressed. You will be guided in carrying out your own projects in addition to building a portfolio. With Oslo as our classroom, we visit the country's largest art museums, famous architectural offices, galleries and artists!

A YEAR OF ART AND ARCHITECTURE

  • Drawing with different tools and techniques such as act, anatomy and perspective.

  • Painting; composition, form and color theory.

  • Idea and concept development where we work from idea phase to result.

  • Graphics with different printing techniques.

  • Ceramics in crafts and sculpture.

  • Architecture and urbanism with excursions, drawing and model building at different scales, as well as art and architectural history and aesthetic theory.

You will develop your own projects and help arrange group exhibitions. We work with portfolios and entrance exams for schools within art and architecture. The teaching provides a good foundation for further studies in art or architecture. You will explore many different techniques that provide an understanding of color, form, space, composition, material theory, drawing techniques, idea development and problem solving.

We believe in "Learning by doing", with guidance along the way. On the course you have a lot of freedom to develop your own projects and experiment with ideas and techniques. The teaching is divided between theoretical and practical work. All the way you are encouraged to take ownership of the design process and make your own aesthetic choices.

We have ongoing assessment with a focus on learning – to give you insight into what you are mastering, what you can develop further, and to support you in your creative development. The assessment takes place both through individual guidance in conversations and through joint presentations with discussions in class.

It's fantastic to live in a small city, and on the course you get to know Oslo's art and cultural life! We collaborate with exciting artists and architects, and go on atelier and studio visits. We go to exhibitions, galleries and museums, and draw sketches at Einar Granum Art School. We also use the city, with people, buildings, cafes and parks as inspiration and starting points for assignments.

Art and Architecture is for those who want to develop their artistic abilities in good company with other creative souls. Here you will get a solid foundation for further studies, as well as guidance in entrance exams and portfolio for education in art and architecture. The line is also suitable for those who have not worked much with art before, but who want to spend a year exploring and playing with visual expressions and different techniques. With us, everyone works from their own level.
