On this course you will develop as a music producer and/or songwriter with guidance from skilled teachers while also taking part in Oslo's fantastic music scene. We are curious about your musical expression, and will help you further, both in the studio and on stage. You will work on projects, delve into individual topics, and spend time on your main instrument - whether it is vocals, lyrics, production or an instrument.
Artist/Songwriter and Music Production
A YEAR IN ARTIST/SONGWRITING AND MUSIC PRODUCTION
You will explore text work and focus on creative writing. You will learn to use Logic and work on recording and mixing music in the studio. You will further develop your creative understanding by learning techniques for working on ideas that are developed into a finished product. We work on composition and text, recording, production, and mixing, and you will have the opportunity to work on concert production. In addition, we spend time on communication, music theory, and rhythmic training. We are also committed to using networks and professional actors in the teaching to provide insight into industry knowledge, understanding of the subject, and further opportunities and career paths.
The teaching consists of group lessons, individual follow-up and seminars with external people. There will also be project work where you also work together with other lines and meet the other teachers in the scenic section. The teaching is practical and concrete, but you will also have the opportunity to raise your musical understanding through more theoretical sessions. You will have the opportunity to spend time immersing yourself in your own projects, working independently and in collaboration with others.
It's fantastic to go to folk high school and pursue music in a small city, and on the course you get to know Oslo's music and cultural scene!
You will have the opportunity to go to concerts and performances at venues such as Rockefeller, Sentrum scene, Vulkan arena, Parkteateret, Operaen, Chateu Neuf, Kulturkirken Jakob and SALT. In Oslo there are also many smaller concert venues with different musical profiles, where you can experience artists that meet your musical ambitions and preferences. We encourage our students to go to as many concerts as possible in addition to the concerts we go to as a class and as a school.
We use the opportunities in Oslo as a natural part of the teaching with excursions, seminars and experiences that contribute to inspiration and new knowledge. In addition to going out to concerts, we also receive visits from exciting actors and artists to the school.
The course is suitable for those who are interested in music production and songwriting. It may be for those who have a lot of experience and want to build on it, but also for those who are interested in music and want to learn more!
